A significant milestone has been reached in our journey toward decarbonizing the energy system! A critical component of our thermal battery has recently arrived at the Instituto de Energía Solar – Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
The high-temperature electric furnace, manufactured by our partner Entech (Sweden), is capable of reaching temperatures exceeding 1500ºC and will ultimately store more than 100 kWh of thermal energy in the form of latent heat (or more than 200 kWh of total thermal energy, including sensible heat).
We are now focusing on integrating the other key components to create the world’s first latent heat thermophotovoltaic battery.
